Wilton Holiday Gingerbread Kits {Review & Giveaway}

December is my absolute favorite time of the year just because I love the holidays so much! I love that the family all gets together and we sit by the fireplace and play games but my most favorite part of the holidays is baking, decorating and eating all those yummy treats!

Wilton is my absolute favorite company of all my baking and decorating needs! I love their cake pans and my sister the cake decorator in our family uses only Wilton products. Wilton sent me a package featuring some of their Gingerbread kits! My kids favorite part of baking is of course the Gingerbread House! Well now that Thanksgiving is over we have our tree up (actually we put our tree up before Thanksgiving – shhhh don’t tell :) because it snowed- and that’s rare for Seattle).

So the day after Thanksgiving while my kids were sitting around with nothing to do we pulled out the Pre-Baked Gingerbread Ornament Cookie Kit that Wilton had sent us. First off I will say when you have a six year old and five year old and a 2 1/2 year old who are anxious to start decorating their ornaments with this kit, get everything ready and set out before you tell them. It took me a little while to get all of the frosting mixed together and everything set up (especially when I had kids at my feet begging to touch everything). When we were finally ready the kids just jumped right in. At first I wanted to help them with the frosting so that everything looked perfect but instead decided to let them use their creative artistry and do it all themselves. I did however grab one cookie for myself to decorate. The kit was straightforward and simple to set up and use. I did end up adding more powdered sugar to the frosting just because I didn’t think I’d have enough but then ended up with quite a bit leftover. The kids had a blast and have put the ornaments on the tree- the only problem we are having with that is that my 2 1/2 year old wants to eat them! : )

With December creeping up on us very quickly we are excited to try out the other kits that Wilton sent us. I think we’ll probably end up using the Gingerpops Cookie Kit to give to treats to our neighbors and the kids are super excited to decorate the Pre-Baked and Pre-Assembled Gingerbread House Kit when my sister’s come home for the holidays, the Gingerbread house is something we always do together as a family so we have to wait for them, but these kits will make for some fun holiday activities.

I love the simplicity these kits bring to fun holiday activities however I do love the smell of gingerbread baking in the oven so I’m going to have to pull out my gingerbread scented candle when we decorate the gingerbread house.
