About the Book:

Abbie Adams is a regular eleven-year old girl with normal problems like a really strict-fifth grade teacher. (Meet Miss Linegar. Rhymes with vinegar.) She’s chronically behind in homework, forced to keep a big secret from her very best friend and hoping like heck she can remember all her lines in the drama club play. But Abbie also happens to be a witch and in addition to everything else, she has to cope with stuff like her little brother morphing into a werewolf and trying to eat his first-grade teacher…not to mention figuring out what exactly is up with her very, very peculiar cat.

My Thoughts:

I originally thought I’d read this book with my girls but they are still a little bit young and my five year old wasn’t very interested, I think she liked the book but she didn’t like sitting still and being read to for that long without any pictures. My almost 7 year old on the other hand LOVED the book! She is only in first grade but has been tested to read at about a 3rd grade level so she enjoyed sitting down and reading this one on her own. We read some of it together and then I’d find her in her bed with the book reading ahead so we both ended up finishing it on our own. It’s definitely a fun story, something I had a hard time putting down. I didn’t feel like there were any lulls in the plot line and that it was all ups and downs with Abbie’s little moments of misfortune and excitement. I don’t want to say too much and ruin the book because it’s definitely one you need to read! The ending was nice and sweet but I felt like there were a few things said that maybe meant there would be a second book, which I would gladly welcome and grab at the first chance I got to read! I know they say you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover but I often find myself doing just that and this book hits the mark, it’s one I would definitely pick up based on it’s fun and colorful artwork on the cover.
