Sesame Street: Elmo’s A-to-Zoo Adventure Wii Game {Review}

elmo_gamesIt’s been a long wet, cold winter and it hasn’t even snowed so the kids can’t go outside and play which means we’ve had to find things inside to do for the last few months. My kids don’t watch that much television and they tend to get bored of their toys fast however they do love playing on the computer and playing on our game systems. Their favorite is the Wii because they are so many fun kid’s games for it. It’s also a great way to keep the entire family entertained together on occasion. Recently we were given the opportunity to review Sesame Street: Elmo’s A-to-Zoo Adventure Wii Game.

Features:

  • Elmo’s A-to-Zoo Adventure encourages literacy skills, including letter identification, letter sounds, and word families, through engaging and fun mini-games.
  • Explore exciting Zoo habitats including the Aquarium, Savanna, Jungle, Forest and the Artic.
  • Easy to follow audio-visual directions that preschoolers can master on their own.
  • Use the second Wii Remote to drop-in and assist your child when needed.
  • Game difficulty adapts to your child’s level.
  • Customize up to four profiles, set functions including difficulty level and game limits, and review the games and educational content your child has played on the Parent’s Page.
  • Wii and Nintendo DS versions include Gameplay Helpers to simplify gameplay for your preschooler.
    • The Wii gameplay helper is a soft and fuzzy character cover with special grips that slips over the Wii Remote, minimizing unnecessary buttons and making it easier and more fun to hold.
    • For Nintendo DS, there is a jumbo click stylus designed for smaller hands, simplifying interactions with the touch screen.

Our Thoughts:

While my kids don’t watch that much television I have definitely made sure they know who all the Sesame Street characters are because it was always a favorite show of mine growing up and we have a stuffed Elmo and stuffed Zoe doll. Coincidently the two characters my children know the best are featured in this new alphabet adventure at the Sesame Street Zoo. This game is packed full of mini-games to help them learn all about the alphabet with Elmo, Zoe and their animal friends. My 2 1/2 year old LOVED this game, the controls were a little difficult for her but with the help of my 5 year old daughter who also loved this game they were able to play together. (This game is specifically designed for ages 3-5.) My 5 year old daughter said she loved all the games- she wasn’t able to pick a favorite, they are all great! I thought it was definitely a great game for helping little ones learn their letters. My youngest doesn’t know all her letters quite yet and I have seen progress after continued play with this letter recognition game. They were also excited about the Elmo Wii controller cover that came with the game. The controls were a little bit weird at first but my five year old got used to them quick (you’re required to tilt the controller from side to side for different options). I think it was mostly awkward at first for her because she wasn’t used to using the Wii remote like that.If you have a young preschooler I would definitely suggest adding this fun yet educational game to your collection.

Buy It: Elmo’s A-to-Zoo Adventure Wii game can be purchased online for only $39.99

If you’re a huge Sesame Street fan also be sure to check out their other game- Cookie’s Counting Carnival.
