Trading Phrases {Review & $25 GC Giveaway}

 

 

I’ve always entered other people’s homes and admired their vinyl wall decals, thinking I’d love to have those in my home but am just not that crafty, don’t have the right tools to create them and it just wouldn’t work for me. However then I found Trading Phrases a company that specializes in selling those fun vinyl wall decals. So that took the work out of it and I didn’t have any excuses anymore. That and they were so awesome to let me have one of their products to review and share with you on my blog.

Generally I stick to framed family photos, or photos of the kids or photos I’ve taken for my walls- and it comes easy loving photography because I have tons of pictures to choose from. When it comes to the kids bedrooms though I wanted something a little different. For this room and review I picked the Dandelion Breeze Wall Decals. These tall dandelions with extra seeds to scatter add a fun and whimsical breeze to any room! We decided on the yellow color for our vinyl. One of the things I love about Trading Phrases is there are SO MANY color options! Not only was there a yellow but there were six different shades of yellow to choose from. There were also four different size options, we choose the 30” tall dandelion.

I was a little worried at first that I would end up messing it up when putting it on the wall so I was hesitant, however Trading Phrases also sent a few other little fun vinyl pieces along with the dandelion to test out your skills before attaching the important one to the wall.

Tips for Attaching:

• Use a level to make sure your design is straight
• Attach your design with blue painters tape to the wall- I love painters tape for everything because it doesn’t take the paint off your wall, doesn’t put holes in your wall like push pins do and doesn’t leave a sticky residue.
• As mentioned in Trading Phrases FAQs attaching is much easier on flat paint then on semi-gloss- just a warning!

It was definitely a bit of a process because we were trying to attach such a large image to our semi-gloss walls, however I would never in my life go back to flat paint- oh that stuff was so awful in my house- showed every tiny little fingerprint and basically was just low quality paint (the original paint that the builders used). The end result though- definitely worth it. The image looks great on the wall, and even though we were attaching yellow to a white wall (which I was a little worried about) it shows up great!
