HEXBUG Nano Halloween Party

My kids were super excited to get to host a HEXBUG Nano Halloween Party with their cousins and friends this last weekend. They were too excited to wait when our box from MomyParties and Innovation First Labs, Inc arrived that we had to pull everything out and check it out first! We put the all of the tracks together which included:

(2) HEXBUG Nano Habitat Set:

  • 2 extremely rare glow in the dark HEXBUG Nano Mutations
  • 4 easy connect glows in the dark curved pieces
  • 3 easy connect glows in the dark straight pieces
  • 3 easy connect glows in the dark hexagon pieces

(1) Glows in the Dark HEXBUG Nano Elevation Habitat Set:

  • Multi-level spiral ramp that rises two levels up
  • 52 easy connect pieces
  • 2 rare HEXBUG Nanos

P1030670The party kit also included 12 Limited Edition HEXBUG Nano Halloween Zombie Bugs (coffin shaped packaging and a glows in the dark exoskeleton), 15 Glows in the Dark HEXBUG Nano Galileo Collection bugs, and additional batteries. When initially setting it all up we decide to put all of the bugs on the huge connected track set and turn them on, boy was that crazy! The video below will give you a good idea of how nuts it got.

For our party we decided to make some of the yummy recipes included in our party package ideas. Candy Corn Pudding and Mummy Dogs. These were great kid friendly recipes that the adults enjoyed too.The pudding was essentially just butterscotch pudding, banana cream pudding and vanilla pudding with added food color and candy corn on top while the mummy dogs were hot dogs with cheese wrapped in crescent rolls- yum!

  • Make butterscotch pudding as directed on box, using 2 cups of the milk.
  • Stir in 20 drops red food color and 25 drops of the yellow food color.
  • Refrigerate 30 minutes
  • Make banana cream pudding as directed on box, using remaining 2 cups milk
  • Stir in remaining 20 drops yellow food color

Ingredients:

  • 1 can refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
  • 2 1/2 slices American Cheese, quartered
  • 10 large Hot Dogs
  • Cooking Spray
  • Mustard or Ketchup, optional

Directions:

  • Heat Oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Unroll dough; separate at perforations, creating 4 rectangles. Press perforations to seal.
  • With knife or kitchen scissors, cut each rectangle lengthwise into 10 pieces, making a total of 40 pieces of dough.
  • Slice cheese slices into quarters
  • Wrap 4 pieces of dough around each hot dog and 1/4 slice of cheese to look like “bandages”, stretching dough slightly to completely cover hot dog. About 1/2 inch from one end of each hot dog, separate “bandages” so hot dog shows through for “face”.
  • On ungreased cookie sheet, place wrapped hot dogs (cheese side down); spray dough lightly with cooking spray.
  • Bake 13 to 17 minutes or until dough is light golden brown and hot dogs are warm. With mustard, draw eyes on “face”.

The HEXBUG toys provided lots of good entertainment and while I’m bummed that we didn’t get a picture of all the kids playing together, they were definitely a hit!

The kids enjoyed wrapping up the party with some Halloween decorated cupcakes – orange frosting and black sprinkles that they said looked like bugs!

But the fun hasn’t stopped there! My three year old has really been enjoying her bugs every second she can- we have even already had to replace some batteries (good thing for extras) because she never turns them off! I’m constantly having to tell her to go turn her bugs off or they are going to die but then she is reminded she wants to play with them and runs off to play. The kids also really enjoy that they glow in the dark and will go and sit in the bathroom with the lights off playing with their bugs and tracks.

Disclosure:  A huge thanks to MommyParties and Innovation First Labs, Inc. for providing this fun filled HEXBUG Nano Halloween Party kit. All opinions here are my own and not influenced by anyone.
