REVIEW:

The Lion King has always been a favorite Disney movie of mine, I even remember seeing it in theaters when it originally first aired in 1994. I’ve always loved its music and story and was happy to hear it was being re-released because this is not one we have replaced from VHS to DVD yet and now my kids have the opportunity to enjoy it as much as I do. I was very happy to see the same great story with absolutely beautifully re-done animation. It definitely had a brand new feel. The story along with great music from Elton John, Hans Zimmer, and Lebo M. is one for the generations to remember. A young lion cub who doesn’t understand the true importance of being king, which really is more than just bright lights and the glory of being in charge is taught a life experience through the death of his father, running away from home and eventually fighting for his family and what he knows to be right.

The  Bonus Features offer you the ability to watch the movie in regular mode, sing along mode, with audio commentary, or in Disney Second Screen mode (new ability to tie into social networks). Along with the other great features listed below:

  • 4 Never-before-seen Deleted Scenes
  • Deleted Song
  • Morning Report: Extended Scene
  • Pride of the Lion King
  • The Lion King: A Memoir
  • Interactive Blu-ray Art Gallery

Some of the bonus features are definitely geared more towards adults and my kids weren’t as entertained by them as I was but it was fun to find out interesting facts about the original Lion King movie- like how it was the movie nobody wanted and didn’t think would succeed originally but to this day is the highest-grossing hand drawn animation film. My kids favorite part was being able to watch it in Sing Along Mode- they love the songs so much but this just gave it a little extra added fun!

This is definitely another Disney Family Favorite you will all love spending family night together watching.
