Savvy Rest sent me one of their Shredded Latex Organic Pillows to review. I was excited because I haven’t had a good pillow in many years. It seems like all the ones I’ve been sleeping on lately are almost completely flat, faded and have stains- obviously it’s time for a new pillow. My first impression of the pillow is that it is quite heavy, which I didn’t mind but it’s definitely not one I’ll be tossing easily off my bed and not one that the kids can steal very easily without me noticing them dragging it out of my bedroom. Compared to what I’ve been sleeping on it was very full too. It is definitely a comfortable pillow that I enjoyed laying on the couch with and I love the outer casing/cover of the pillow’s material, it’s a soft flannel type material. The only problem I had with it at night was that it conforms to your head and neck, which could be great but I move around too much in my sleep that once I got settled down into the pillow I seemed to move which made my neck feel a little uncomfortable in the morning. So after two night’s of sleeping with the pillow I decided to let my husband try it to see if had better luck. He REALLY likes the new pillow and I don’t think I’ll be getting it back anytime soon. He definitely is a lighter sleeper then I am and doesn’t move very much. He did mention that when he rolled over he had the same problem I did but he didn’t mind it as much as I did. I will also mention that you can remove some of the shredded latex inside the pillow so it’s not as full and after the first night I tried that but still didn’t have much luck. Just be careful when opening up the pillow to remove the latex if you decide too- it’s in a lot of little pieces and if it spills you’ll be using your vacuum cleaner to pick it up. I was also a little put off by the smell of the latex inside the pillow- I just wish it had a nicer smell. Overall though it’s been a good pillow for my husband and definitely nicer then what we’ve been sleeping on and I like that it’s made from organic material.
