MY REVIEW:
This is the one game that my daughters have gotten to try out. We’ve had the lot for a few days now but just barely found my daughter’s Nintendo DS in the mess that we call their toy closet last night. Of course it was time for bed so they had to wait until the morning to play but that didn’t stop me from plugging the DS in to charge and while it was charging playing the new Lalaloopsy Sew Magical! Sew Cute! game for at least an hour! Yes it’s not only entertaining for young girls but for moms too, if you’re a mom like me who enjoys fun sweet little colorful and entertaining games like that.
I was definitely happy to see that it has a quick pace to it- I hate those games where the characters just walk way too slow. It has a little bit of a walkthrough to follow at the beginning. You start out by walking through the neighborhood meeting new friends along the way collecting tokens that will allow you to make more crafts at each house. Each new friend has lost their pet and asks you to help find it, which is a pretty simple task. After finding their pet you become friends and are invited into their house to make a craft project- which is actually quite fun and an area that while they want you to make a pattern specific match at first you can use your creativity without being penalized too much- the only penalty I’ve seen so far is that they doll says, “oh no” if you don’t get it perfect. After that you are prompted to give your new friend a gift (one of the craft projects you have made- I suggest starting with the craft project at your own house so you aren’t giving her the gift you made at hers). After that you move on to the next house.
When you have completed the map walkthrough you are then introduced to exploratory mode where you can walk through visit your friends, collect tokens, make more crafts to give to your friends and help take care of their pets. After walking through the neighborhood a few times I got bored but my kids definitely haven’t. My six year old this morning before school just wanted to go into houses and make craft after craft, she is definitely my creative child and has really enjoyed this game.
Now that my older girls have gone to school my 3 year old daughter is enjoying this game. Just about all of the instructions are spoken making it fairly easy for her to navigate through the game and make crafts at each house by herself. She has required a little aid at first showing her how to make the pets happy and recognize the noise they make when sad but she has pretty much been going through free play all by herself without getting bored. I think the bright colors and fun sounds are what encourage her to continue playing. (My 3 year old also loved that the game came with a miniature Lalaloopsy doll.)
If you have girls I would definitely add this to your Christmas shopping list this year! In my opinion this is bound to be a hit with the age 3-10 crowd this year!
