4th of July/Summer Activities and Snack Ideas

Great American Summer Activities

Perfecto for a crowd of active kiddos, try out this patriotic twist on a classic outdoor game!

What You’ll Need:

  • Red, White and Blue paper
  • Scissors

How to Play:

  • Cut out star shapes, using the red, white and blue paper
  • Give each child who is playing either a red, white or blue star
  • Have the children run around in a large open space, trying to tag each other
  • If a player is tagged, he/she must give the player who tagged them their star
  • The first person who tags enough people to get one red, one blue and one white star wins!

Great American Guessing Game

Fun for kids and adults alike, this game will have everyone guessing!

What You’ll Need:

Three (3) Jars

An assortment of red, white, and blue edible items such as:

Jelly beans

Popcorn

Hard candies

How to Play:

  • Fill each jar with items of certain colors so that you have a red jar, a blue jar and a white jar.
    • Alternatively, you can combine the items to make mixed jars!
  • As you fill the jars, make sure you count the contents and record the number somewhere
  • Have each player log a guess of how many items are in each jar
  • The person who comes the closest wins the items!

waterballoons_0001 “Feet First” Balloon Relay

Anyone can toss water balloons with their hands, but what about your feet? Put your tootsies to the test with this wild and wacky game!

What You’ll Need:

  • Balloons
  • Water

How to Play:

  • Make water balloons by filling balloons with a small amount of water and tying the ends. Don’t make them too big or they’ll pop!
  • Divide plays into each equal groups
  • Place an equal number of water balloons to the left of each group
  • The first player on each time will pick up the water balloon with his/her feet and pass it to the person on the right, who will accept it with their feet
  • The water balloon will be passed from feet to feet, until it reaches the last person who will put it down without popping it
  • The first team to pass all their water balloons intact, wins!

red-white-blue-fruit-salad Red, White, and Blueberry Fruit Salad

Ingredients

  • 2 cups blueberries
  • 4 cups sliced strawberries OR 4 cups raspberries
  • 2 sliced bananas
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar (optional or to taste)

Directions

Combine blueberries, strawberries/raspberries, lemon juice and sugar (optional) in a large bowl and stir well. Just before serving, gently stir in bananas.

Summertime Strawberry Lemonade

Ingredients

  • 1 liter lemonade
  • 1 cup strawberries, sliced OR 1 cup raspberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • Ice

Directions

Combine sliced strawberries/raspberries and sugar in a bowl. Using a fork, mash the berries into the sugar, leaving some large chunks. Chill for 1 hour. In a large pitcher, combine the berry mixture, the lemonade and the water and stir. And ice then serve!

Easy_Sand_Cup Beach Sand Pudding Cups

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 (3.5 ounce) package instant pudding mix
  • 1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 (12 ounce) package vanilla wafer cookies, crushed
  • Variety of candy toppings to decorate

Directions

Combine milk and pudding mix in a large bowl. Beat with a whisk until well blended, then let stand for 5 minutes. Add in whipped topping and half of crushed cookies and fold in. Place 1 Tbsp. crushed cookies into each cup, then fill each cup 3/4 of the way full with pudding mixture. Top with remaining crushed cookies. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Decorate with fun toppings such as gummy worms, gummy sharks, gummy fish, paper umbrellas, or great creative and come up with your own!
