Schleich Giganotosaurus {Review & Giveaway}

I don’t have any boys but I do have nephews and I thought they would love the Schleich toys I was offered for review but when our Giganotosaurus came my five year old daughter opened the box and claimed this toy for herself! She said she was going to use him when she played with her Pet Shop toys. Um okay, the Pet Shop toys are much smaller then the dinosaur, the dinosaur is HUGE. Definitely a high quality well made toy! The Schleich toys I’ve seen in stores on the toy isles are usually pretty small but this dinosaur is definitely anything but small. Giganotosaurus is 8 inches tall and about 12.5 inches from teeth to tail’s end. Modeled 1:40 to scale, working in conjunction with a Berlin museum, the dinosaur comes with a tiny human in the same scale to show children how they would compare to this giant.

About Giganotosaurus:

Potentially more powerful than T-Rex, Giganotosaurus was about forty feet long, weighing in at eight tons. Featuring small spikes and broad spots on its back, this dinosaur was very distinct in appearance. Feeding on plant feeders, Giganotosaurus had three claws at the end of his short arms. Scientists suspect that Giganotosaurus could sprint swiftly thanks to its slim tail which was held up, unlike other dinosaurs.

Fun Facts: Giganotosaurus had a banana-sized brain.

This video clip was my daughter’s idea of playing with the Giganotosaurus with her Pet Shop animals. Apparently she isn’t as girly as I thought she was. (The bird queen here has a pet dinosaur that ends up going on an eating spree.) My two year old even got into the action a little bit near the end of the video where she starts making scary noises for the Giganotosaurus.

 

Schleich’s Giganotosaurus is definitely a toy I’d add to your holiday list if you have any boys to buy for or if you have girls that just aren’t that girly. (Ages 3+)
