REVIEW: We received the copy for the Xbox 360 Kinect system, which if you don’t have a Kinect, it absolutely must be on your Christmas list! My kids LOVE our Kinect and I love that it gets them up and moving, some of the games are definitely much more active and involved than others which keeps them up off the couch but they still get to enjoy their video games. I know the Wii also has this same feature, but Iove that you don’t need a controller for the Kinect because my kids seem to always be loosing those. I’m not a huge fan of the show SpongeBob and rarely let my kid watch it but when we had the opportunity to review this game I knew they would love it because it would be special to them that mom was letting them have it. My six and seven year old girls along with my husband have spent countless hours at night playing this new game.

One of my favorite part is the bright colors on screen- I remember as a child the games we played were so muted and seemed so fake, this game definitely has more of a real feel to it, which makes it fun to watch the kids play. You can choose to play as either SpongeBob or Gary learning to skate or surf. My six year old said she really loved the cool tricks she’s learning and now wants a real skateboard for Christmas. This is definitely more of a single player game but it comes with a nice 2 player split screen option so that both of my girls can play alongside each other together, and I’ll say it again, best part- no controller! This game was given an E rating- which means it’s for everyone and I would definitely suggest this as a great family game, whether you’re playing or watching, everyone will enjoy it!

Key Xbox 360 Kinect Features:

  • For the first time ever, you can BE SpongeBob
  • Augmented reality—move your hand through the water and watch it splash!
  • Compete and play with friends – show off your awesome tricks and mind-blowing stunts in head-to-head play (2-player split-screen)
  • 12 awe-inspiring environments – 6 for each sport—and unlimited ways to perfect your board skills
  • 7 different challenges including Gate, Timed and Score runs
  • Express yourself with a variety of righteous boards – earn even more awesome boards, the better you ride
  • Strike a pose: use your camera to show off gnarly moves and tricks
