Homemade Magic Erasers {DIY}

If you have kids under the age of 4 you’re probably like me and have already found Mr. Clean’s Magic Eraser to be one of your best friends. Seriously it has saved my life more than once when it comes to crayons, sharpies, pens, and just about anything you can think of. However I’m not a huge fan of the way the Magic Eraser just falls apart while you’re scrubbing or the cost of having to constantly buy them. A huge thanks again to Pinterest for helping me find these homemade Magic Eraser ideas (I have not yet tried any of them so if any of my readers try this before I do you’ll have to report and let me know what you think).

Liquid Magic Eraser

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbs Borax
  • 12 oz warm to hot water
  • 12 oz. White Vinegar
  • Your Favorite Essential Oil
  • 24 oz. Spray bottle

(Easy to mix all ingredients right in the spray bottle.) First add the warm water and Borax, cover and shake until Borax is dissolved. Next add white vinegar and as many drops of your essential oil as you’d like (you’ll just want enough to mask the vinegar smell). Lightly shake and start cleaning.

Homemade Magic Eraser #2 – (This one I haven’t tested either.) I’ve heard that a wet rag dipped in baking soda with a little elbow grease will also do the job of a Magic Eraser without falling apart or costing you an arm and a leg to replenish.

  1. Method 1 works really great. Yeah you do have to put a little elbow grease in it, and try to be careful not to rub the paint off.
